Susan Carol Willis, daughter of Ellsworth D. "Dan" (1902-1975) and Violet L. (Valentine) (1901-1980) Willis, was born 1931. Michigan. She graduated in 1949 from Okemos High School.

HIGH SCHOOL PLAY TO BE GIVEN AT OKEMOS
OKEMOS, April 7 - Saturday evening, April 10, is the time set for another home talent play by the junior class of the local school. The play is "Junior Prom," a three-act comedy. Miss Christina Schram is directing the cast. Those taking part are Susan Willis, Roberta Kelly, Hilda Taylor, Charles Sawaya, Douglas Barnard, Wally Ruhland, Ernest Southworth, Robert Benson, Joe Hovanesian, Joyce Donnell and Donald Webb.
Susan married William G. DeVore on 9 June 1951, Ingham County, Michigan. William, born 6 July 1931, Ingham County, was employed as a State of Michigan Liquor Control Inspector. He retired in 1990 after 35 years of service.

CANDLELIGHT RITES JOIN PAIR SATURDAY
A candlelight ceremony at Mt. Hope Methodist church was the choice of Miss Susan Carol Willis, as she exchanged marriage vows with William G. DeVore, Saturday at 8 p.m. Officiating at the double-ring ceremony was Rev. Maylan Jones.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Willis, 2321 E. Mt. Hope ave., and attends Michigan State college. She is affiliated with Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph DeVore, 139 Clemens ave., is also a student at Michigan State college. The couple plans to continue studies there in the fall.
For her bridal outfit, Mrs. DeVore chose a white linen suit, and a white cloche. She carried a bouquet of white roses and sweet peas.
Matron of honor was Mr. Robert Lewis, the bride's sister. Best man was Neil DeVore, brother of the bridegroom.
Susan and William were married 17 years and had 4 children before Susan died, due to heart surgery complications, 20 September 1968, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. Susan was interred Vinewood Cemetery, Elmore, Montcalm County, Michigan.
William married after Susan's death. He died 21 November 2012, Gratiot County, Michigan. He was interred Riverside Cemetery, Alma, Gratiot County.

SUSAN C. DEVORE
Edmore - Funeral services for Mrs. Susan C. DeVore, 37, a former Lansing resident who died Friday at a Grand Rapids hospital after heart surgery, will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Faith Methodist Church, Edmore.
Burial will be in the Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore.
She is survived by her husband, William; two sons, Timothy and Scott, and two daughters, Pamela and Laurie, at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Willis of Okemos; a brother, Timothy Willis of Okemos; and a sister, Mrs. Joene Lewis of Perry.
The body is at the Stebbins Funeral Home, Edmore.
