Mary L. Hicks, daughter of William W. Jr. (1922-2010) and Lucille (Funk) (1922-2015) Hicks, was born 3 November 1949, Michigan. Mary's father was a World War II 1787th Army Engineers veteran, having served in Burma and India. He was heavily involved with the Hicks Brothers Real Estate Company, founded by his father and uncle, for many years.
Mary attended Okemos High School and was part of the Class of 1967. She was killed in an auto accident 25 November 1966 and interred Evergreen Cemetery, Lansing, Ingham County.

OKEMOS GIRL DIES AFTER CARS CRASH
An Okemos girl was killed Friday night in a two-car crash at Grand River Avenue and M-78.
Mary L. Hicks, 17, of 3650 Arbutus Drive, Okemos, died as a result of head injuries suffered in the accident, said Coroner Jack Holmes.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Hicks Jr., of Okemos. She died at a local hospital about an hour after the crash.
East Lansing police said Miss Hicks was a passenger in a small foreign car driven by James C. Downer, 17, of 1974 Tomahawk Drive, Okemos, which collided with an auto driven by John J. Grady, 70, of 206 Shiawassee St., Durand. Olive Vincent, 67, also of 206 Shiawassee St., Durand, a passenger in the Grady car, suffered minor back injuries in the crash.
Police said the cash was still under investigation today, and that no tickets have been issued.
It was the fourth traffic fatality for the city of East Lansing this year.
Miss Hicks, a lifelong resident of the Okemos area, was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she taught a Sunday school class. She had attended Okemos High school and was attending Kemper Hall at Kenosha, Wis.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, William S. and Brian L., both of Okemos; and her grandparents, Mrs. William W. Hicks Sr., of East Lansing and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Funk of Okemos.
Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
