Wendell A. Sturges, son of Wallace A. (1855-1941) and Daisy L. (Coston) (1885-1977) Sturges, was born 22 November 1911, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan. Wallace and Daisy married 3 December 1902, Lansing, Ingham County and immediately moved to Okemos.
Wendell was the youngest of 2 children. He attended the Okemos school until probably the 8th grade, as did his older sister Ruth. Wendell was enrolled with the OHS Class of 1935.
Wendell never married. He was employed for many years by Michigan State University in the Forestry Department. He also did maintenance work at MSU.
Wendell died 4 June 2005, Ingham County. He was a 3rd generation Sturges interred in Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.

WENDELL A. STURGES
OKEMOS, MI
Born November 22, 1911 in Okemos, son of Wallace A. and Daisy (Coston) Sturges; died June 4, 2005. He attended Okemos Schools, Okemos Community church, and was a lifelong member of The Grange. he worked in the MSU Forestry Department and maintenance. Wendell was a gardener, a tinkerer and a collector. A man of simple needs, filled with kindness and a giving spirit, Wendell found pleasure in friends and neighbors, helping out wherever he could. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 8, at 2 p.m. at Okemos Community Church, 4734 Okemos Road, Okemos.
