Lee Moore

Lee B. Moore class of 1985

November 3, 1967 – August 12, 2025

Lee Briegel Moore passed away on August 12, 2025, at the University of Michigan-Sparrow Hospital.

She fought a complex and courageous battle with an extraordinarily rare arterial disease. She demonstrated her kindness and resilient spirit until the end. Lee lived a life characterized by deep love of family, friends, and her professional devotion to the business field of Human Resources Management and Compensation.

Born in Ann Arbor, MI, on November 3, 1967, Lee grew up in Okemos, ultimately graduating from Okemos High School class of 1985. Her studies were augmented by spending half a year in the Hawaiian public schools. Her high school degree was broadened by six months of study in South Africa at the Pretoria Girls High School and the University of Pretoria (mathematics). Lee’s graduate work was enhanced by studies in London and the University of Salamanca, Spain.

Lee went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Resources from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science of Administration from Central Michigan University. Lee was also a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP). She spent her entire professional life around compensation and human resources, including 22 years at AT&T and the last 11 years at HR Performance Solutions, most recently as Manager of Compensation Products. Lee was instrumental in enhancing the Compease compensation software and saw Compease become the American exemplar for small through medium-size firms and organizations across the United States and Canada.

Lee is preceded in death by her mother Nancy Lee (Briegel) Moore, grandparents Frederick and Grace Briegel and Robert and Constance Moore, Aunt Sheila C. Lauer, Uncle David R. Moore, Aunt Theresa Moore, Aunt Barbara Baker, and step-niece Sara Guenther.

She is survived by father Michael Lee Moore; stepmother Elizabeth (Betty) B. Moore; brother Eric Gardner (Lisa) Moore; nephew Samuel Gardner Moore; stepbrothers David (Teresa) Guenther and Brian Guenther; stepsister Deborah (Chris) Horak; step nephews Guenther (Grace) Shepherd, Anthony Horak and Lukas Horak; step nieces Veronica (Andreas) Piller, Valerie Guenther, Rachel Guenther, Lydia Guenther and Maria Horak; cousins Jeffery (Deb) Moore, Christopher (Gretchen) Moore, Matthew Moore, Nickolas Moore, Kristine (David) Gersabeck, Bryan (Deonne) Lauer, Gretchen Baker, and Belinda Baker; and many loving friends.

During her years in the Okemos school system, she played softball, soccer, basketball and volleyball. Her love of sports did not end with her school years. Throughout her life, she followed all sports but particularly the University of Michigan and Detroit Lions football teams. Also, Lee set up “family and friend” competitions based on holiday bowl football games and March Madness basketball games, which were great fun for all.

Lee continued her love of travel by visiting Europe, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zeeland, and more recently, she cherished the fun of cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska.

Her vast knowledge made her a preferred partner in games like Trivial Pursuit. She was also ready at any time for a game of cards, particularly the Rummy game called “May I.”

Her family now likes to envision her happily reunited in heaven with her mother and other beloved family members and friends. Lee lived her rich and fulfilling life in a positive way and will long be remembered for her devotion to friends and family. Lee and her brother, Eric, were extremely close. Eric will carry on the deep values exemplified in Lee’s life.

The family would like to thank the staff at the University of Michigan-Sparrow Hospital for their loving care of Lee during her last weeks.

A life celebration and memorial will be held on September 27 at 11 am at The People’s Church in East Lansing. Lee’s favorite color was blue and the family encourages you to wear blue to the service.
