Lou Charlotte Ferguson, born 11 June 1884, Meridian Township, Ingham County, Michigan, was the daughter of Dr. James White Ferguson (1850-1907) and his first wife, Mary Elizabeth French (1850-1884). Dr. Ferguson and Mary Elizabeth were married in 1876, several years after he and his brother Augustus Ferguson, also a physician, moved their medical practices into the Okemos area. Their father, John Ferguson, was a well-known individual in Ingham County. John Ferguson served for several years as supervisor of Delhi Township, Ingham County and also was store merchant in Okemos in the latter half of the 1800's.

Lou was an enrolled pupil in Okemos Union School in 1888. Her widowed father had remarried the year prior to her mother's sister, Henrietta Janette "Nettie" French. Lou and her younger sister Maud would go on to have 3 half siblings.

Lou furthered her education and became a public-school teacher. She met and married,23 June 1902, Okemos, Clinton James Mumby, a railroad man. Clinton, born 3 April 1876, Washtenaw County, Michigan, worked out of Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. Clinton moved up in his employment. At marriage he was a railroad switchman but by 1908 he was a railroad yard master. Clinton, 3 February 1908, sustained multiple traumatizing injuries at the railyard. He was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio but succumbed to his wounds. He left behind Lou, his very pregnant wife of nearly 6 years. A month later, 2 March 1908, Lou gave birth to a son, Clinton James Mumby Jr. Young Clinton would go on to become a distinguished Psychiatrist, for 30 years, in Oakland County, Michigan. Sadly, he would never know his biological father. Lou interred her husband in Forest Cemetery, Lucas County.

Lou went back to teaching school. She met and then married Irishman John Edward Delehanty, 28 October 1915, Lucas County, Ohio. John, born 18 August 1869, Toledo, Ohio, was 15 years older than Lou. He held, over the years, several different kinds of jobs but the last years of his career found him employed in an electric plant in Lucas County. Lou continued on with her teaching career in several different school in and around Toledo.

Lou died of cancer 24 April 1946, Toledo. She was interred Calvary Cemetery, Toledo. John died at age 86, 8 June 1956, Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. He too was interred Calvary Cemetery, Toledo.
