Louise Emma Kaiser was one of eight children born to a German immigrant couple who farmed in Meridian Township, Ingham County, Michigan. Louise, born 6 February 1878, was the daughter of Johann George (1832-1898) and Philippine Christine (Weissinger) (1848-1904) Kaiser. She was, along with several other siblings, enrolled in the Okemos Union School in 1888. Louise would complete 8th grade at Okemos Union and then went on to Mason, Ingham County, to complete two more years of education, as did her siblings.
On 28 February 1899 in Okemos, Louise, age 21, wed John Fred Schroen of Washtenaw County, Michigan. John was a farmer, and the couple immediately moved to Washtenaw County where John owned a farm mortgage free. Daughter Clara was born in 1902 but the year 1904 saw Louise's sister Laura move into the Schroen household. Laura was a teenager without parents. Johann (George) Kaiser died in 1898 and his wife, Philippine, followed in death in 1904. Laura was on the cusp of going to college and so was welcomed into the Schroen family where she would literally live out the rest of her life. Laura became a schoolteacher and then changed careers to bookkeeping for a mercantile store. She always lived with her sister and died in 1942.
Louise and John left the farm and moved into Ann Arbor not long before 1920, with their 2 daughters, Clara and Mae, and sister Laura. In 1920 a son, John Elbert, was born into the family. Sadly, Louise's husband John died 18 May 1925, Ann Arbor. By 1930 Louise had moved her family to Saline, Washtenaw County. US Federal Census records that Louise always owned the home she lived in, mortgage free, and she never worked outside her home. Sister Laura was always living with her.
Louise died 2 January 1952, Washtenaw County. She was interred next to John, Oakwood Cemetery, Saline, Washtenaw County.
