Among the students attending the Okemos Union School session of 1888 was 9-year-old Marshall McGiveron. Marshall was the son of William Harold (1842-1914) and Martha Loretta (Eggleston) (1854-1947) McGiveron. Born 13 January 1879, Meridian, Ingham County, Marshall's life was short. Little is known about his growing up years but he was listed as an employed “laborer” on his death record. He succumbed at 18 years 3 months and 16 days, 29 April 1897, Meridian Township, Ingham County, to “plural pneumonia” and was interred Glendale Cemetery, Okemos.
