Betty Jean Penner (Blowers) Nygard class of 1953, 91, of Lansing, Michigan passed away, August 12, 2026.
Betty had two siblings, Harry and Joann Blowers.
Betty graduated from Okemos High School in 1953. During Betty's early days she liked to ride horses and ride with her grandfather in his 1940's Model T Ford.
Betty worked for the State of Michigan Attorney General's Office for many years and retired in 1988. She enjoyed her job and association with co-workers.
Betty had four children, Wendy, Scott, Sandra and Elizebeth; two grandchildren, Katie and Kimberly and five great grandchildren, Alana, Kaden, Demarion, Jayden and Axle. Her children and grandchildren will miss her smile and kind words.
Betty once seen President Obama in Washington D.C. As we were walking in the city, a motorcade of black limos were heading towards the White House and Betty seen President Obama through an open window in the limo. She was so excited, jumping up and down while expressing, "I seen him, I seen him," I can't believe it." She just stood on the sidewalk for a moment to absorb what just happened. It was a special moment!
Betty had a Toyota Corolla; she loved this car and took very good care of it for many years. Her cats, Herbie and Buddy were also wonderful companions for many years. She would always know if someone were around or at the door because her cats would jump off her lap and sit at attention in front of her.
Betty loved to cook and would watch the food network shows on television and write down recipes. From this she became very talented in culinary cooking. Betty lived with strength and determination. She is loved and will be missed.
A Private Service has been held. The family is being served by the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan The Parkinson's Foundation or the Michigan Dementia Coalition in memory of Betty.
