for the Class of 1965, 60th Reunion: September 19 through 21
Please, please respond! We need a count for the restaurants, hotels and bus. NONE OF THIS IS A COMMITMENT on your part, I just need some kind of idea. Our first survey was a good start and created a lot of chatter. But, there are several people that we have heard nothing from for years. Event cost: Graham got a good Friday night deal at Brookshire for $40 each. With more donations (more about that later), we'll reduce the price at the door. Since donations are starting to come in, it will likely be a lot less. Henry Kwok is giving us a private room for free on Saturday evening and his dinner menu is quite reasonable. I'm donating the bus on Saturday, so I thought I'd pass the hat and ask $10 for tips for the bus driver. Dave Brower got us a private room and faculty discount at Brody Hall on Sunday AM, so meet him at the cash register on the second floor and give him $10. Hotel rooms are not cheap, even with the discount they are giving us. Check with your friends and relatives still here in Okemos (or area). If you are still here, ask your friends to stay with you! I didn't do anything about car rental, but I'm sure there are enough of us here to give you a lift. Incidentally, there is bus service between Detroit Metro and East Lansing, the Michigan Flyer 517-333-0400.
Donations: don't feel you have to, but if its not a burden, donations will first reduce the event costs and second, will create a pool of money for scholarships. We already have $800 left over from the last reunion and received $100, $500, $1000 and $1800! (The $1,800 pays for the bus which I needed for bathroom and handicap access). So, we are rolling!
